About the Preserve

Historic Virginia Estate & Hunting Grounds Since 1810

Nestled in nature’s majesty, the Coastal Plain uplands in Hanover, Virginia, it’s a short drive from Richmond and a warm welcome to a picturesque pastoral scene.

The Preserve at Dundee House and Grounds

Enter through the stone pillars and take in the rolling hills and sweeping woodland views – The Preserve at Dundee spans hundreds of acres, full of wide broomstraw fields, acres of pine and hardwood forests, and the echoes of its storied past.

Historic Virginia Estate & Grounds

Built between 1810 and 1820, the beautiful historic home served as a camping ground during the civil war, and as Major Heros von Borcke, General Jeb Stuart's attaché, shares in his published memoirs:

“We had the pleasure of visits to the hospitable mansion known as Dundee, which was one of the most charming places in the fair land of the Old Dominion. The house is situated on an elevated point in the midst of a beautiful oak grove which opens on the garden side, affording a lovely vista over richly cultivated fields, with a blue range of hills for background in the far distance…the entire locale was so sweet a paradise, that it was the highest of satisfactions to us soldiers…”

While the visitors have varied over the years, the natural beauty and the hospitality of The Preserve persist, and delight all who escape to this idyllic locale.

Our family lovingly restored this one of a kind place, and we invite you to join us. Immerse yourself in natural beauty, Enjoy unparalleled excursions on exquisite hunting grounds. Set the scene for a celebration like no other, and come together for a magical and memorable event.

We can’t wait to share this place where history comes alive with unforgettable experiences that shape your own story too.
